First-Ever Erasmus+ Info Day Held at Tajik International University of Foreign Languages

The National Erasmus+ Office in Tajikistan successfully organized an Erasmus+ Info Day, which was held for the first time at the Tajik International University of Foreign Languages named after Sotim Ulughzoda. The university had not previously participated in the Erasmus+ Programme, and this event marked an important first step toward its engagement in European higher education initiatives.

The event was held under the theme:

“Erasmus+ Opportunities in Tajikistan: Globalization of Higher Education.”

The Info Day brought together university representatives, academic staff, students, and key stakeholders interested in academic mobility, international cooperation, and the internationalization of higher education.

The event opened with welcome remarks delivered by Dr. Philology, Professor Zhilo Gulnazarzoda, Rector of the University, who emphasized the importance of Erasmus+ in strengthening international cooperation and integrating the university into the global academic community.

The keynote presentation, titled

“Erasmus+ Opportunities in Tajikistan: Globalization of Higher Education,”
was delivered by Dr. Mohbonu Nakhatzoda, PhD, National Erasmus+ Coordinator in Tajikistan. In her presentation, she highlighted the key actions of the Erasmus+ Programme and outlined mobility and cooperation opportunities available to Tajik students and academic staff in Europe.

A presentation by Professor Zarrina Kadyrova from the Tajik State University of Commerce attracted particular interest. She shared real-life success stories and achievements from Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) projects, emphasizing the role of international partnerships in enhancing the quality and institutional development of higher education in Tajikistan.

During the interactive session, participants discussed best practices, common challenges, and possible solutions in implementing international education projects. The active engagement demonstrated the university’s strong interest in initiating its first Erasmus+ activities. The event concluded with the identification of clear steps for future cooperation and the launch of feedback mechanisms, laying the foundation for the university’s first participation in the Erasmus+ Programme and the further expansion of international collaboration.
