Erasmus+ National Big Info Day in Tajikistan: Strategic Dialogue in Higher Education

On 18 December 2025, the National Erasmus+ Office in the Republic of Tajikistan, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union, organised the Erasmus+ National Big Info Day.

The event brought together representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, higher education institutions of the country, representatives of several European embassies, as well as embassies of the United States of America and Japan, and international and national organisations active in the field of education.

The main objective of the Erasmus+ National Big Info Day was to foster strategic dialogue in the field of higher education, present the wide range of opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ Programme, and strengthen sustainable cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union.

Prior to the official opening, an information and project exhibition fair was organised, with the participation of higher education institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as international and national organisations working in the education sector. The fair provided a platform for networking, identifying potential partners, engaging stakeholders, and exchanging new ideas for future cooperation within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.

The official part of the event opened with welcoming remarks by Mr Ravshan Karimzoda, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr Ferdinand Jenrich, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, and Dr Mohbonu Nakhatzoda, National Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Tajikistan. In their speeches, the speakers highlighted the significant role of the Erasmus+ Programme in advancing higher education, strengthening institutional capacity, and expanding international cooperation.

During the event, the key priorities and opportunities of the Erasmus+ Programme were presented. Participants were introduced to ongoing initiatives and projects, including International Credit Mobility, Jean Monnet, Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE), the development of micro-credentials, as well as projects focusing on sustainable development, the green economy, and good governance. Discussions emphasised increasing the participation of Tajik higher education institutions in international projects and the effective use of European best practices.

A dedicated session entitled “Erasmus+ through the Eyes of Alumni” allowed former programme participants to share their personal experiences, academic and professional achievements, and reflections on the impact of Erasmus+ on their academic development and career paths.

The National Erasmus+ Office in Tajikistan considers the Erasmus+ National Big Info Day an important step towards strengthening international cooperation, enhancing the capacity of the higher education sector, and further promoting the active engagement of Tajik institutions in the Erasmus+ Programme.
