On October 25, 2024, the National Erasmus+ Office in Tajikistan organized a Regional Erasmus+ Information Day at the Tajikistan Institute of Energy. The event was attended by over 60 participants, including faculty members, university administrators, students, and representatives from various organizations interested in international cooperation and participation in the Erasmus+ program. A distinctive feature of this event was that it took place at an institution that had not previously been involved in the Erasmus+ program, marking the first engagement of the Tajikistan Institute of Energy with the program. This decision was made as part of the National Erasmus+ Office’s strategy to expand the audience and involve new educational institutions in Erasmus+ activities.
The primary goal of the Regional Information Day was to provide participants with essential knowledge and understanding of the Erasmus+ program, its key components, and how institutions and individuals can benefit from the opportunities for educational exchanges and cooperation with European institutions.
The Information Day was designed to give participants a comprehensive understanding of the Erasmus+ program and provide them with practical information on how to get involved in Erasmus+ projects. The event included a series of presentations, discussions, and Q&A sessions aimed at highlighting the various opportunities offered by Erasmus+ for students, faculty members, and educational institutions.
The event opened with a welcoming speech from the Rector of the Tajikistan Institute of Energy, Isozoda Dilovar Tariq. He emphasized the importance of enhancing qualifications and developing skills for successful engagement with international projects and Erasmus+ participation. The Rector noted that this Information Day was a crucial step in raising awareness of international cooperation and project management in the field of education.
Dr. PhD Mohbonu Nakhatzoda, the National Erasmus+ Coordinator in Tajikistan, provided an in-depth overview of the Erasmus+ program. She explained the opportunities it offers for universities, faculty members, and students, as well as the steps involved in applying for Erasmus+ projects. The focus was placed on International Credit Mobility (ICM) and the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJM) programs, with detailed information about the application process, priority areas, and the requirements for participation. Dr. Nakhatzoda also provided guidance on how to successfully develop and implement Erasmus+ projects, as well as how to find international partners for collaborative efforts.
Professor Jafarov Ahror, an expert in project management, presented on Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE), a key area of Erasmus+ relevant to the Institute of Energy. As this was the first time the institution was engaging with Erasmus+, the focus was on how CBHE can help institutions modernize and develop their educational processes. Professor Jafarov shared practical recommendations on implementing Erasmus+ projects, including successful case studies and the key stages of project development and monitoring. He emphasized the importance of building sustainable international partnerships and integrating CBHE into universities’ strategies for development. Professor Jafarov also assured participants of continued support from the Erasmus+ network as they begin to develop their own Erasmus+ projects.

Saidkosim Mukhtorov, a prominent expert on European integration and member of the HEREs (Higher Education Reform Experts) network, presented on the Jean Monnet initiatives within the Erasmus+ framework. He emphasized the importance of these initiatives in promoting European studies and integration in Tajikistan. Saidkosim also shared his expertise on the process of applying for Jean Monnet funding and the role of universities and partners in ensuring successful project implementation. This session was especially significant as it coincided with the anniversary of the Jean Monnet program, highlighting its long-term impact on education and research in the region.
Following each presentation, participants engaged in group discussions and a Q&A session, where they had the opportunity to ask questions and seek further clarification on the Erasmus+ program and its components. The discussions allowed participants to share their experiences, raise challenges they face in their institutions, and seek advice on how to overc ome them when implementing Erasmus+ projects.
At the conclusion of the Regional Information Day, the key takeaways were summarized, and participants received practical recommendations for getting involved in Erasmus+ projects. Specific steps for future participation were outlined, including guidance on developing project proposals, finding international partners, and managing Erasmus+ projects effectively.
