Regional Info Day – Kulob State University named after A. Rudaki

On October 31, 2024, the Erasmus+ Information Day took place at Kulob State University named after A. Rudaki, successfully gathering faculty members, students, representatives from various regions of Tajikistan, and international participants who joined online. The event aimed to highlight the opportunities provided by the Erasmus+ program and its impact on the education sector in Tajikistan.

The event was opened with a welcome address by Khudoydodova Sharofat Zardovna, the Vice-Rector for International Relations, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union. She highlighted the significance of programs like Erasmus+ in enhancing education and fostering international collaboration.

Dr. Mukhbonu Nakhatzoda, the National Coordinator of the Erasmus+ program in Tajikistan, provided a detailed overview of the program’s opportunities, explaining how Erasmus+ can improve the quality of education and create better employment prospects for youth in Tajikistan. She also highlighted the activities of the National Erasmus+ Agency in Tajikistan, its role in promoting the program, and the significant achievements in this regard. Statistical data on the program’s impact in the country were presented, as well as its influence on the education system in Tajikistan. Special attention was given to the role of the members of the HERE (Higher Education Reform Experts) network and their contribution to the ongoing reforms in the country’s education system.

Saidkosim Mukhtorov focused on the importance of the Jean Monnet initiatives, which contribute to European integration and support the study of European affairs. This presentation was particularly significant as it coincided with the anniversary of the Jean Monnet program—one of the key components of Erasmus+. During the session, long-term results achieved through these initiatives in advancing education and research in Tajikistan were highlighted.
Additionally, Saidkosim provided a detailed overview of key aspects of working within the program: the specifics of completing the application, the role of universities and various partners, and other important nuances that contribute to the successful implementation of Jean Monnet projects. It is important to note that the selection of Saidkosim to lead this presentation was not accidental. He is a member of the HEREs program in Tajikistan and currently serves as the coordinator for Jean Monnet projects, which makes him an expert in this field and gives him a unique opportunity to share his experience and knowledge.

Firuz Okhunov, International Relations Officer at the Institute of Economics and Trade of the Tajik State University of Commerce, gave a detailed overview of the opportunities provided by the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master program for students. He emphasized that this program offers Tajik students unique opportunities to receive education at leading universities worldwide with full coverage of expenses through scholarships. This provides a significant incentive for further academic and professional growth, as well as opens up prospects for a successful career on the international stage.
Firuz Okhunov also explained in detail the step-by-step process of participating in the program, including the eligibility requirements, application deadlines, and the structure of the academic courses. He pointed out that EMJM is not just an opportunity to obtain a master’s degree but also a chance to study in several countries, which promotes intercultural exchange and broadens students’ horizons.
Okhunov also thoroughly discussed the application process for the EMJM program, noting that students apply directly to the institution running their chosen program. It is important to highlight that Erasmus Mundus programs involve at least three universities from different countries, as well as numerous partnerships with both academic and non-academic organizations, which makes education within the program especially valuable.

Orifzoda Orzu, Head of the International Relations Department at Kulob State University of Rudaki, presented the topic “Participation of Kulob State University of Rudaki in the Implementation of European Fund Projects.” During his presentation, he shared the university’s involvement in the Erasmus+ program, highlighting its history of cooperation in this area. Orzu discussed how the university has actively participated in projects supported by the European Union and emphasized the number of faculty members and students who have had the opportunity to engage in Erasmus+ exchanges, including studying or completing internships at leading European universities. The presentation also touched upon the key aspects of this collaboration, showcasing both the positive outcomes and the future prospects for expanding the university’s participation in international educational and research projects.

During the networking session, participants had the opportunity to discuss potential avenues for collaboration, exchange ideas, and share experiences. This session served as an important platform for strengthening connections between higher education institutions, students, and faculty members, fostering an atmosphere of mutual learning and cooperation.
